PARTICIPATION IN CONFERENCES
In order to promote the sustainable development of smart tourism, Center Smart Tourism constantly participates in conferences held by various tourism organizations such as DMOs, educational institutions, trade unions, and solution providers, because the successful implementation of smart tourism is associated with the exchange of experience and extensive cooperation with all tourism organizations and stakeholders.
In addition, participating as a speaker is a unique opportunity to bring the ideas of smart tourism to the leaders and decision makers in the tourism industry.
New Silk Way mini-Model United Nations dedicated to the United Nations Day (October 24, 2022)
The New Silk Way Model United Nations traditionally organizes the MUN conference on November 5, 2022, to celebrate the United Nations Day through brainstorming on how to tackle global challenges such as International Security, Cost of Living Increase, Global Terrorism as well as on finding new ways of developing Global Tourism.
The upcoming event will be organized by the mutual engagement of the NSWMUN Organizing Committee and the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU). Thanks to the long-standing support of the United Nations Information Office in Kazakhstan, the UN House in Almaty will welcome youth for giving them a platform to discuss the actual issues of present time.
Slightly diving into the history of the Model United Nations “New Silk Way”, it operates since 2011 under the coordination of the Ban Ki-moon Institute for Sustainable Development at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and within the United Nations Academic Impact Initiative. The NSWMUN organizes several mini-Models UN, Round Tables as well as an Annual International Model United Nations Conference every year. Since 2020, the New Silk Way MUN has started to deeply scrutinize its Rules of Procedure and other Delegate and Organizing Committee Protocols to ensure the best experience of every participant within each of the “New Silk Way” event!
The upcoming Model United Nations on the 5th of November is a unique opportunity to address the present Global Challenges within the walls of the United Nations Building in Almaty. This time, the Delegates’ feeling of being a real world-class Diplomat would be even more realistic!
8th Urbam Summit UNWTO “SMART CITIES, SMART DESTINATIONS”
The summit was held from 9 to 12 October 2019 in Nur-Sultan with the participation of delegates from more than 80 countries.
Important issues of the development of Smart tourism in cities were raised during the Summit, since urban tourism is a driver for the development and implementation of smart tourism technologies, the sustainable development of tourism, and the construction of smart destinations.
Center Smart Tourism took part as a speaker at the session ‘Making the best of technology in building competitive urban destinations’ to raise the issue of the difficulties of building smart tourism in cities and ways to solve these difficulties through the use of free technologies.

The conference took place in Almaty on April 11, 2019. Important issues were raised in the development of electronic and digital tourism, as well as building smart tourism, digital seamless travel, ecotourism and sustainable development of the industry. In addition, the problems of electronic booking of air travel, the work of agencies and metasearch systems were discussed. We raised the issue of improving the online promotion of tourism services, as well as self-education of tourism business leaders in the field of online commerce.

The large emergence of smart cities, or at least the desire of any city to become smart, has a positive effect on tourism, as the industry becomes smarter, more economical and environment-friendly, and ultimately more sustainable.

International Conference on Responsible Tourism and Hospitality 2021 (ICRTH2021) is a collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MTAC) Sarawak, the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM), UCSI University, Sarawak Research Society (SRS) and Emerald Publishing. The conference was scheduled in August 2020. Nonetheless, due to COVID-19 pandemic, the event has been postponed until further notice.
While the pandemic and traveling remain uncertain and given the widespread use of digital platforms to hold online events, ICRTH2021 is being held on 27-28 May 2021 using a hybrid approach. With the theme “Rebuilding Tourism for the Future through Sustainable Development”, the conference aims to delve into responsible tourism and hospitality as well as sustainable practices to rebuild tourism and hospitality.

Trends and prospects of tourism development in Kazakhstan and Central Asia
On 14-15 March, 2019, an international scientific and practical conference «Trends and prospects of tourism development in Kazakhstan and Central Asia» was held.
Organizers of the event are Abai Kazakh national pedagogical University, George Washington University, International Institute of Tourism Studies (USA), Akimat of Almaty, Department of tourism of Almaty.
The purpose of the conference is to exchange experiences and views on the practices and trends of tourism development in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, to discuss ways and prospects of cooperation between the countries of the region in the field of tourism.
Administrator of Center Smart Tourism Mr Yerkin Ospanov presented a robot guide in Almaty and spoke about the development of smart tourism around the world and Kazakhstan.
