Abbreviations in Internet Markting

CPA (Cost Per Action) is the cost of advertising on the Internet, calculated for any action, such as a sent request or consent to a subscription.

CPC (Cost Per Click) is the cost of advertising on the Internet, calculated for each click on an ad. It is commonly used in search advertising and social media advertising.

CPM (Cost-Per-Mille) – payment for online advertising for 1000 banner or ad impressions. It is usually used in display advertising in advertising or social networks.

CTR (click through rate) is the click-through rate of an ad or banner on the Internet. Shows the ratio of clicks on the banner to the total number of views. For example, CTR = 1% means that out of 100 banner views there was one click on it.

ER(Engagement Rating) – engagement rating. Shows the ratio of users who have taken an action to the total number of users who have viewed this information. For example, it can be the percentage of users who liked, commented or reposted a post on a social network to the total number of those who saw the post.

Google Ads (Google Advertising) is Google’s online self-service service for managing search and display advertising, as well as video advertising on Youtube.

PPC (Pay per Click) is a pay per click advertising model. For example, this model is often used in social networks when a business places an ad with a link to a website. Payment is counted for each transition of users to the site. Closely related to CPC.

ROI (Return on Investment) – return on investment ratio. For advertising, the percentage of the ratio of net income received from advertising to the cost of advertising.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the technical and content optimization of a website to improve results in search engines.

SERP (search engine results page) is a search engine page that collects search results for a specific query.

SMM (Social Media Marketing) – promotion and maintenance of business pages in social networks

SEM (Search Engine Marketing) is marketing based on organic search traffic. Closely related to SEO.

UGC stands for User Generated Content, such as testimonials or customer videos.

URL (Uniform Resource Locator) – the name of the site on the Internet, for example, google.com or romashka.kz, etc.

Naturally, not all abbreviations are given here, but only the main ones. If you come across incomprehensible abbreviations, their decoding is easy to find using any search engine, because there are a lot of Internet marketing materials. Moreover, inside all advertising systems there are large sections of help, where the essence of certain abbreviations or concepts is revealed.
